In Bath the Queensberry rules with the Hotel Inspector

Distinguished hotelier and Channel 5’s demanding Hotel Inspector Alex Polizzi has chosen Bath’s Queensberry Hotel as one of 52 very special UK establishments to make it into her Little Black Book of Hotels. The Queensberry is the only hotel in Bath to be included in the glamorous guide, beating off competition from hundreds of others in the area.  Each of Polizzi’s carefully chosen hotels has come under intense scrutiny and has had to meet her exacting standards across all areas.

The guide, subtitled 52 Secret Destinations in Great Britain, celebrates unusual, unique hotels that aren’t necessarily well-known – until now, that is. This is one little black book that is sure to make compulsive reading for armchair travellers and travel connoisseurs alike. Polizzi is enthusiastic about The Queensberry’s quirky eccentricities: “this town house hotel celebrates Britishness with a touch of tongue-in-cheek fun.”

Those who have seen Channel 5’s The Hotel Inspector will understand just how particular Alex Polizzi can be. As the granddaughter of Lord Forte and niece of Sir Rocco Forte, Alex comes from a long line of distinguished hoteliers: she certainly knows what she’s taking about. Each of the establishments featured in The Little Black Book of Hotels is described in absorbing detail, allowing potential guests to really get a feel for the hotel and their hosts-to-be.

Alex describes exactly what makes each hotel so special, and gives her recommendation about where to go in the local area, what to eat, and even which room to stay in. Polizzi says: “The Queensberry is the perfect place for a city break; its idiosyncratic charm is backed up by the owners’ high levels of professionalism and 40 years of combined experience at hotels such as The Savoy and Claridges.”

Owner and founder of The Queensberry, Laurence Beere, says, “It’s always a pleasure to hear praise from any of our guests – and every guest is just as important to us as any reviewer.  However, we’re well aware of how high Alex Polizzi’s standards are, especially as she comes from such a prestigious line of hoteliers, so we’re super delighted to be included in the Little Black Book of Hotels.”

Robsons Extreme Hotel Adventures – Myhotel Brighton “where Freddie Mercury meets the Maharishi”

By Rob Hunt  //  helloEngland  //  Comments Off

“Excellent hotel….A fabulous stay”

“A Modern Treasure”

“Absolutely fantastic!”

These are just some of the many fantastic reviews about Myhotel Brighton!  Opened in March 2008 Myhotel Brighton is the shared vision of CEO & Founder of myhotels Andy Thrasyvoulou  in conjunction with Karim Rashid. Described by Andy as a place ‘where Freddie Mercury might have met the  Maharishi’. It is truly exceptional.

Myhotel Brighton, an 80 guestroom hotel in the heart of the cultural quarter of the North Laines – each guestroom features beautifully curved walls that accentuate design and spiraling energy – each curve is etched in to the very foundations of the hotel.

The guestrooms also boast a fully integrated sound system that is compatible with your mp3 player, DVD player and flat screen TV. In addition, BeeKind Collection blends offer skin-friendly formulations in environmentally kind packaging. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the entire hotel.

Through elements of feng shui the hotel exudes calmness and stimulates creative flow.  The philosophies behind Myhotel Brighton are positive energy and heightened spirituality. The hotel is very much a place for new contemporary pleasures spanning over culture, design and comfort – it is the perfect place to relax, socialise, work and engage in experiences that are memorable and unlike any other in the world.

The destination bar – merkaba is a distinctive and spirited lounge and cocktail bar, at the epicentre of the hotel and Brighton itself. As you enter, take in the timber-slated walls that surround you, their sculpted curves and graceful lines colluding to convey a feeling of cosiness, warmth and effortless comfort. The surroundings blend together as one entity to evoke a feeling of private luxury – as if it has been borrowed from within one rich, immense hard wood.

Myhotel Brighton also boasts suites that have been designed by local Brighton artists. Names as grand as Alex Macarthur, Martin Thomas and Lucien Hewetson, have all assisted in creating a hotel that is as much Brighton itself as it is myhotels. And of course the penthouse, intriguingly named carousel, features a 300-year-old vintage carousel horse.

Myhotel Brighton celebrates the digital and spiritual age in which we live – addressing both emotionally and physically the new international global society. The spaces are soft, curved conceptual and engage technology, visuals, textures, colours, and all the desires that are intrinsic to travelling.

Until next time,

Robson
